Alphys’s lower claws clacked along the sidewalk leading up to a cozy little house. It was a clear Autumn day, a bit windy, but otherwise quite nice. It was still quite warm for October and Alphys stopped for a second, and bathed in the sunlight. Being outside felt good. Especially after being stuck under a mountain her whole life.

She stopped outside the door of the house and gave a quick weak knock. She could hear a pitter patter come up to the door, then it opened slowly.

Behind it was Toriel, Queen of Monsters. Well, former Queen of Monsters. Now she was just a kind lady who worked at the local school as a teacher, teaching monsters and humans alike. She stood tall, nearly twice the height of Alphys, even if Alphys wasn’t slouching. She looked kindly at Alphys with a soft smile.

“Hello, Ms. Alphys,” Toriel said, waving slightly.

“Hello, Qu-- Ms. Dreemurr,” Alphys replied. Toriel chuckled.

“You can just call me ‘Toriel’ dear,” Toriel said in return. “The last name situation is... sort of complex at the moment.”

“Y-yeah, I can, understand that,” Alphys said. “So, um, why’d you, call me over here on your day off?”

“Oh, well,” Toriel chuckled, “I just kind of thought you might like to ‘hang out’ as they call it these days. I am… well… Alphys. I have to admit. I am a bit lonely.”

Alphys felt herself blush just a little bit. “Um, like, h-how so?”

Toriel sighed. “Well, I have spent several years underground, living in a house by myself, with only the occasional human passing through… And the only other adult monster in my life being a voice on the other side of a stone door. Now that we are out… I want more connections with other monsters closer to my age.”

Alphys cleared her throat. “Well, I’d say we haven’t talked much one to one, but we’re good friends! And you already know Undyne, who w-was your Royal Guard!”

Toriel sighed and put her paw up to her head. “She is such a lovely woman. How is she? I understand you and her are a thing!”

Alphys laughed nervously. “Haha, well! She’s fine! We’re good.”

“You are a pretty lucky woman.”

Alphys tilted her head. “Toriel, are you… alright?”

“Oh, I am good. It is just…” She sighed.

Alphys realized. “Oh! I get it! I get it now! You… you want tips on how to get with Sans!”

Toriel’s smile fell flat and she raised an eyebrow. “W-what?”

Alphys stood straight up and balled her handclaws into fists. “Yeah… Y-yeah! You need my advice! Woman to woman! I’ll be your guide! Your guide to the new crazy world of above-ground romance!!”

Toriel tilted her head. “What.”

“That’s… That’s what you’re asking right? You want to ask Sans out and I’m your wingman! Wingwoman. Wingmonster???”

Toriel nervously chuckled. “Alphys, I am… flattered at the help, but…”

“But? But what?”

“Alphys, I like women. Sans is just a close friend.”

“H-h-huh? What?!”

“Yes. Ever since I split with… Asgore… I used that time to reflect on myself and… well… I realized that I am just into other women more.”

Alphys’ posture returned to normal and she relaxed her hands. “Oh. Oh! Oh!!! Toriel! I’m, very happy to hear that! That’s, uh…” Alphys thought for a second. “So did you, um, call me over for advice on, getting with girls? Or something?”

Toriel chuckled with a smirk. “You could say that, yes.”

Alphys blushed and laughed nervously. “So, heh, w-what do you mean?”

Toriel took her hand and walked her into the living room, sitting her down, and sitting next to her.

“Alphys… I was talking to Undyne the other day, and… I asked her, if we could…” She cleared her throat and blushed. “Well, erm…”

Alphys looked at her, still unknowingly clutching onto Toriel’s hand. “What’d she say?”
